Instability defines our time — unpredictable world leaders, shifts in government policies and people, fear of war and terrorist threats, stock market volatility... — all are making our world more and more unbalanced. As a consequence, the conflict between faith and doubt is the great reality of the time in which we live. “Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.” Luke 21:26

The very fact that events in the earth are being shaken at every level should provide confidence in the Bible — these things were prophesied to happen in our day. God is working out His plan, and the end is promised to be glorious! “I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come.... and I will fill this house with glory... in this place will I give peace.” Haggai 2:7, 9

WORLD INSTABILITY:

The Great Prophetic Reality of Our Time

Uncertainty of what the future may hold is the great prophetic reality of the time in which we live, not just for Christians, but for all people. The constant wrangling between the U.S. and Arab countries is either directly or indirectly affecting the lives of millions. Those living in Israel face an even more imminent threat. Instability in the Middle East maintains intensity from power struggles within and without Arab countries, but their unified focus has always been to wipe out Israel from the face of the earth. Thank God that He has promised their efforts will never be a reality, though at times, the threat seems to be on the horizon! In fact, the instability of our time is an indication that Israel is about to become the blesser nation promised to father Abraham thousands of years ago! God's promise to Abraham was that through his seed there would come a Nation which would bless "all the families of the earth." (Genesis 22:18) Abraham's seed was to be made up of two parts, a heavenly and an earthly component. God's Word will accomplish its purpose, and once the shaking of earth's unstable systems is over, the world will finally look to Him for a new government arrangement under a righteous ruler — the long promised Messiah!

“For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth. And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name. Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God. Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah: for the LORD delighteth in thee… I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence, And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.” — Isaiah 62:1-4 & 6-7
